Your Children Think You Are Beautiful.

A few weeks ago I was working an event at my daughter's school.
I was doing a headshot giveaway as a promotion for my photography business.
As I chatted with mom friends, I was shocked to discover
that most of them would rather die than to "win" a headshot.
Most asked if they would just be able to have a photo of their child instead.
And these were beautiful women that I talked with that day.
Stylish, truly pretty women.  Who were a heck of a lot skinnier that I am.

I've struggled with my share of things in this life.
But I didn't realize until recently that I'm in the minority when it comes to
jumping on any opportunity that comes about
to have a photo taken of me and my girl.

A few years back, one of my friends started Embrace the Camera
every Thursday on her popular blog.
She encourages Moms to get in the camera and smooch your kid, make goofy faces,
snuggle, etc. no matter how wonky your hair looks, what you're wearing, or how fat you feel.

Last fall, a local mom made national headlines for delving more in to this topic.
If you are that mom who is much more comfortable behind the camera lens,
If your response to the thought of having your photo taken is "Ugh.  No way,"

50 years from now, ANY picture that you took with your kids will be a treasure.
You gave them life.
THEY THINK YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

So, use that little flippy camera icon on your phone
and snap some of you with your offspring!
Ask a stranger to take a shot of your visit to the local zoo or museum.
Get your hubby or friend to grab a few shots at school events.

And if you'd someone else to do the work for you, I'd be glad to!
Shoot me an email to get on the list or to buy this as a gift for someone that you love.

And please, for the love of Pete,
love yourself by believing that you are beautiful just as you are.
Amen.
