I'm having a hard time believing that this little peach is almost 4.
Not sure where time is going, but man. It's going fast.
School just began on Monday and by Wednesday,
The Bug had a fever.
Boo for shared germs.
Anyways, Selah is always well enough to craft.
And so, on our sick days this week, we made little favors for her upcoming birthday.
I had seen this idea on Pinterest a while back,
but it took me forever to find the little silicone forms.
Truth be told,
these are really ice cube trays from Ikea.
But I winged it at the risk of burning down the house/
ruining the toaster oven and we are all good over here.
Not crispy/charred at all.
{Well, maybe it smells a little like burnt crayon in the house,
but that's nothing.}
On to the craft...
It's simple.
1.) Upcycle old and broken crayons by breaking them down
and placing them in the "baking sheet."
2.) Bake at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Take them out and add more broken crayons to the top.
{So that it fills up the entire hole once melted.}
Heat again for another 5-8 minutes.
3.) When your neighbor comes to the door and asks you to step outside
and attend to another task, make sure that you don't FORGET that the toaster oven is on.
{Thankfully, I still didn't burn the house down...}
Keep a close eye on them in the event that your oven cooks hotter.
4.) Let them cool completely in their tray and then experience the sheer sensory joy of
POPPING them out one by one.
Really, it was fun for me.
5.) I had some left over mini bags to put them in,
so I made a little notecard for Selah to sign
{here's to hoping that she will be patient enough to write her name 36 times...}
6.) And finally, I'm gonna head over here to Frecklebox
and create a free personalized coloring sheet for each party guest/classmate.
Check out their site too! I got an awesome personalized lunchbox for Selah there.
For a total of 99 cents and the minimal cost of paper and ink,
BAM!
each kiddo will have a coloring sheet with their name on it
and a fun rainbow crayon to take home.
Fun times!
I'm so glad you tried it out - I've seen this making the rounds but had no clue if it would actually work. Very cute! (crayons & daughter!)
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice idea for kids to enjoy and learn. I'm wondering for these kinds of idea thanks for posting some good point of this theme.
